READING THE NEW TESTAMENT: 2 JOHN & 3 JOHN

Here are a few words to help you to read the New Testament books of 2 and 3 John. 2 and 3 John are books that we call the “general letters.” Paul did not write these books. Other leaders in the early *church wrote them. They wrote these letters to help encourage the people of God. The New Testament includes eight of those letters.
After you read what the books of 2 and 3 John are about, you will find some verses to read. These verses will help you understand John. You will see what was important to him.
John wrote this short letter to warns his readers against false teachers. He tells the *churches how to protect themselves against them. He tells them that those who truly love God obey him as well.
This small letter tells people how to treat true teachers. Be generous and kind to them. Work together with them for the truth.
